GO TO THE COURT WHERE YOU SETTLED

First, write your lawyer a clear and polite letter and ask him to explain what happened with regard to the lien. Ask him when he learned about it and what steps he took to address it. Could he have not known of it? Did you tell him about it? He should at least try to explain the situation to you or work with you to find out how this situation came to be.

If you cannot get him to give you the time to explain this, and if you live in a state, contact your state bar or your state judicial department for assistance making a complaint or, as it is sometimes called, filing a grievance.

Hopefully, the first step will resolve the matter.
If not, the second step will usually accomplish something because he will likely be required to explain the matter to an investigator or an inquiry committee.

Good luck to you both.

Your lawyer sounds shady! What was your client contract agreement? You do have legal recourse write the American Bar Association or call them and they will further assit you. They will ask you to write a statement put all details in it. He will recieve a notice from them about the complaint. They will listen to both sides and give him an oppotunity to make it right. There is a rule in law ethics 4. 1 through 4. 10 that an attorney must follow and he sounds like he thinks he can ignore the law.
